Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
