This event resulted in the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.

A toddler was one of the people hurt in the event. Several persons required hospital care and were later discharged.

The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
