Jet Carrying Pete Hegseth Required to Land in UK Due to Fracture in Windshield
An aircraft transporting the US defense secretary was required to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday following a fracture was identified in the jet's front window, according to an announcement which verified that all passengers were secure.
"The aircraft touched down following established safety measures and all individuals on the flight, including Defense Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," an official representative said in a public statement.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to the Belgian capital during the flight.
This event is not the first occasion that a United States armed forces jet ferrying a high-ranking official has encountered mechanical issues.
Earlier this year, a US Air Force plane ferrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the German city of Munich was required to return to Washington DC after encountering a mechanical problem.
