FC Barcelona Set to Play Historic Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in La Liga over two years since relocating to allow renovations to start.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a public practice on the home pitch earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
